Q: How do I get my first student?

To establish connections with students on Kavelearn, there are two primary avenues: applying to jobs posted on the Jobs Board or receiving inquiries from students who discover your profile.

To expedite the process of securing your initial students, it is recommended to regularly apply for available jobs. Initially, your profile may not showcase student ratings and reviews, which could result in fewer direct contacts from students.

Navigate to the Jobs Board to explore relevant job opportunities aligned with your expertise and submit your applications accordingly. You have the option to filter the displayed jobs based on subject, proximity, and recency of the post. When applying, ensure that your response message is personalized and tailored to the specific job.

If a student evaluates your application and expresses interest in working with you, they will respond to your application, leading to a new message being delivered to your inbox.

Furthermore, students also have the ability to initiate direct contact with you through your public profile. In such cases, a direct inquiry from a new student will be conveyed to your Messages section.

Q: How can I appear higher in search results and get more students?

· How can I enhance my visibility in search results and attract more students?

·

· The lineup of tutors displayed to a student is subject to variation based on the specific search criteria employed by that student. Nonetheless, there are several measures tutors can undertake to secure a competitive position in search results:

·

· 1. Responsiveness is key. The tutors who achieve the greatest success on Kavelearn are those who promptly respond to student inquiries within a time frame of fewer than 6 hours. Your ranking benefits from promptly addressing new student requests, even if you inform the student that you are unable to assist them at present.

·

· 2. Devote time to perfecting your profile and interactions with students. Your profile serves as the initial impression you make on students, so ensure it captivates their attention with a captivating photograph, a thoughtful and informative Free Response, and comprehensive details regarding your experience and subject qualifications. Each application you submit should be amiable and elucidate how you can specifically aid the student. Furthermore, exhibiting flexibility and accommodating a student's individual needs can be advantageous.

·

· 3. Request student ratings and reviews. Every star rating holds significance! Moreover, approach your existing Kavelearn students and kindly ask them to compose a review for your profile. These published reviews have the potential to attract more students. To solicit reviews, access your Student Connections page and select the "Request" option adjacent to the student's name in the Review column.

·

· In addition to the above, there are four crucial steps tutors should undertake to secure a larger student base:

·

1. Embrace online tutoring! By utilizing Kavelearn's online tool, you can connect with students from any location and accommodate more lessons within your schedule. Simply seek approval to commence.

2. Expedite job applications! Jobs are removed from the jobs board once five tutors have submitted their applications. Seize the opportunity to apply promptly!

3. Allocate ample time to each application! Every job application should be tailored to the student, incorporating pertinent information tailored to their requirements.

4. Foster engagement! Regularly monitor the jobs board and promptly respond to new student inquiries. The most successful tutors on Kavelearnexhibit a response time of under 6 hours.

Q: My student was a no-show or cancelled on me. Do I have any recourse?

Tutors retain the authority to establish their own policies regarding cancellations and no-shows.

To consider a lesson as scheduled, tutors should ensure they receive explicit confirmation of the lesson's location and start time through Kavelearn messaging. Any communication exchanged outside of the Kavelearn messaging system, such as personal emails, phone calls, or text messages, regarding tutor cancellation policies cannot be verified by Kavelearn, and therefore, Kavelearn cannot assist in enforcing them.

Tutors have the option to include any relevant information pertaining to their cancellation and no-show policies, such as notice requirements and penalties, in the Rate Details section of their public profile. However, it is important to note that some students participating in specific programs may not have visibility of these policies in the public profile. Therefore, tutors should always directly communicate the information about cancellation and no-show policies to students before scheduling a lesson.

To maintain the integrity and reputation of the Kavelearn brand, tutor cancellation and no-show policies must not be deemed abusive or commercially unreasonable under the given circumstances. Examples of policies that are generally considered abusive include charging an amount exceeding the cost of the scheduled session or imposing an excessively long cancellation notice period, such as more than 36 hours.

Q: How do I determine my cancellation policy?

Tutors on Kavelearn have the authority to determine their own cancellation policies for cancellations made up to 36 hours in advance. Tutors may choose to impose fees and are responsible for clearly communicating these policies to their students prior to the commencement of tutoring sessions. To avoid any potential disputes, it is crucial to discuss your cancellation policy with your students before scheduling a lesson. All communication regarding cancellations should be conducted exclusively through the Kavelearn Messages system, as emails, phone calls, or text messages outside of this platform cannot be verified by our team.

Please note that having a cancellation policy is optional and entirely at your discretion. It is not mandatory to charge a cancellation fee for every lesson that is cancelled. The decision to apply such fees rests with you, and it is important to clearly communicate them to your students. Additionally, it's worth noting that cancelled lessons are not subject to student ratings.

If you wish to assess a cancellation fee, you can do so by accessing the Lesson Cancellation page. However, please be aware that cancellation fees can only be applied no earlier than 30 minutes before the scheduled end of the lesson and no later than seven days after the scheduled lesson date. Furthermore, it is important to remember that lesson cancellations are subject to the standard 9% service fee.

In order to maintain the integrity and reputation of the Kavelearn brand, it is imperative that tutor cancellation and no-show policies are not considered abusive or commercially unreasonable given the circumstances. Examples of policies that are generally deemed abusive include charging an amount greater than the cost of the scheduled session or imposing an excessively long cancellation notice period, such as more than 36 hours

Q: What is the fee structure for tutors listed on Kavelearn?

All tutors will retain 80% of their posted hourly rate for lessons with students and Kavelearn will retain a 20% platform fee. Tutors who are approved to list their services at Kavelearn must agree to the Independent Tutor Agreement (link) (ITA), which includes specific information about payment policies (link) and the Platform fee.

Q: When will I be paid?

After a lesson occurs, submit the lesson details on the Kavelearn platform. You may submit a lesson for payment through the website. Student payments for lessons submitted within 7 days of the start time of a lesson are automatically processed.

Lessons submitted after 7 days from the start of a lesson require approval from the associated student before payment can be scheduled, and lessons older than 31 days cannot be submitted.

Once this information is submitted, we’ll notify the student, collect payment, and distribute your payment. Tutors must sign up for direct deposit to receive payment.

Direct deposit allows you to choose between two options, both free of charge. Semi-monthly direct deposits are made on the 1st and 15th of the month, and express direct deposit payments are processed 3 to 5 business days after the lesson is entered.
